To successfully start and run a business and earn consistent profit, the business needs to be based upon certain fundamental tried and test business platforms. These platforms are independent of the business and it is believed that the reason for failure of many business of the failure to pay attention to certain core elements of business.

The information provide is not exhaustive but in the opinion of the author these core elements when implemented will service to act as a sure and solid foundation for your business whether it is home based or whether you are running your own business unit within a larger corporation. Pay attention to the four areas below and work out a plan to constantly refine and update.

Category Marketing : You should know and should take time to sit down and plan out which category of the market your product or service fits into. What is meant by this ? consider the manufacturer’s of cars – when they are planning to produce a new car they determine the category of car which will be produced at the design stage. That is to say, the car could be a Mini Car, a Sports Utility Vehicle, a Multi Purpose Vehicle, a Sports Car, a Soft Top convertible and so the list can goes on.

A car is not just a car – the master category of car (your product or service) can and must be split up to provide a solid foundation from which to launch your business. To define the category for your business, take a blank piece of paper, consider the example of the cars and try to come up with at least five different categories in which your product or service can be placed.

Market Segmentation : This deals with the other side of the spectrum after considering Category Marketing, this looks at the end users or the market place whereas Category Marketing focusses on you, your product and your company’s services. Marketing Segmentation looks at splitting up the target market into group for which you can use to target your product and service to.

The market can be segmented by Race, Age, Earning Capacity, Living Area, Maritial Status, Disposable Income etc, etc which when devised correctly will give you a firm base for which Category of product you can sell to a particular Market Segment.

Channel Marketing : Every product or service must pass through a Marketing Channel in order to reach the end user. Most successful businesses today use multiple channels through which to reach their target market and your business should be the same. Examples of marketing channels are Retail Store, Networking Events, Distribution Warehouses, Shopping Malls, Telephone, Mail and the Internet. You should consider what you wish your primary channel to market to be and focus on this and then work on having a few secondary channels to market.

Develop most of your sales and communication tools for your primary market which will be in line with the Category of product and the particular Market Segment which you are looking to address. I consider the internet to be one of the most important Marketing Channels no matter what business you are in and I find the vast majority of my clients on a worldwide basis this way as I have developed significant expertise in this field.

Ideal Client Profile : Based on your definition of all of the above you should be able to develop and ideal client profile, this will tell you the type of person who is most likely to buy from you and with whom you are able to develop and long term relationship. The client profile will show which segment(s) of the market your client come along with the category of product that they prefer to purchase from you. Along with this you will understand through which marketing channel they prefer to purchase from you.

When working on your business focusing in on these key points will serve you will to take your business results to the next level.

Despite what you may be told, the answer is and always will be ‘yes’.

People have and always will be prepared to pay for information in ebook format.

You see, one of the strongest human desires is to learn, to be educated and to better ourselves, no matter what the subject is. It could be …

To live longer and healthier, to be a better parent, partner or lover, to raise children well, to earn more money, to work fewer hours or to own a nicer home or faster car, maybe play a sport better or even just bake tastier cakes, everyone wants information and nearly all would be prepared to pay for it.

Ebooks have become desirable because of their instant nature. Once ordered, all the info I need is downloaded onto my PC. No hassle, no waiting, no fuss. Instant gratification.

Have you bought an ebook online before?

If yes, that’s the proof it works.

As an “InfoPublisher” you can earn a substantial income and put in far less hours than the average person working the 9 to 5 treadmill by selling ebooks. You can fit in work time when it is convenient and from the comfort of your own home.

Alternatively you can put the knowledge here to work for only a couple of hours each week and you can still make a healthy second income (If you want to keep your job). How hard you work and how much you make is up to you. But nothing comes for free. . .

YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO LEARN AND THEN TO PUT INTO PRACTICE – IF YOU DO YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL, IF YOU DON’T YOU WILL FAIL.

I cannot express this strongly enough, you would be amazed at just how many people FAIL simply because they do not take action.

What Type Of eBook Will People Buy?

The answer is simple – almost any type as long as it offers a solution to a problem.

There are thousands of people interested in thousands of topics the secret is: Discover a need, target the market and feed it.

What Is Your eBook’s USP?

If you’re scratching your head, you’re not alone because many authors couldn’t tell you what’s a USP.

An ebook’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is a single, unique benefit that makes your ebook stand out from your competitors. Even before you start to add any words to your ebook, you must establish what it is.

It should influence everything you write.

It should be the one unique strength or advantage you and only you deliver because there are tons of other ebooks with the same topic as you have.

We all have problems right?

Products and services are there to help us solve those problems. Your products created are the solutions to problems. So when there’s a problem, there’s an opportunity for you to make money online.

But sometimes, when you’ve found a problem, there’s already products created to solve it. This does not means that you no longer have the opportunity to tap into this problem. Make the product better, faster, cleaner, more reliable, more cost effective, better presented, you get the idea.

If you look at the bright side, it means that there are a lot of people who are willing to pay to get their problems solved.

Don’t get me wrong — I’m not telling you to go out, buy peoples stuff, and just clone it and give it a fancy new name and change the layout a bit and sell it on. Aside from probably getting you into trouble with copyright laws and such, it’s just not practical or ethical. What I am showing you though is that you can take basic ideas, and you can make them a better solution to a specific problem from the ground up.

Be innovative.

You’ll probably find these products in Clickbank.com’s Marketplace. There are plenty of info-products for you to look through there.

No matter how weird or crazy your product creation idea seems, no matter why you think it won’t work, don’t give it up. Never calls it quit before you give a deep consideration about how it can BE SUCCESSFUL. You’ll never know whether that idea could be your big money-maker one day.

Open your mind a little, and don’t start dismissing things on a whim because they seem impractical or even impossible at first glance. Sometimes, it has a lot to do with your self-confidence.

Some ideas you got there, when you wrote them, they look impractical. It seems like there was no market for them or couldn’t afford to create them.

Keep an open mind and don’t start placing these limits on yourself before you start. Once we remove those limits, the ideas will start flowing. Start recording them. One of them may well be the next big thing in your field of expertise. Sort out the good from the not so good ideas later.

Then, evaluate your ideas.

It’s hard to start creating an info-product, but once you settle into this idea of bringing new concepts to the front of your mind and exploring them, you’ll see that things will become possible and you’ll never run out of ideas for new products.

There are 4 types of formats you can use to create an info-product. Four of them are ebook, software, audio and video types of info-products. The easiest and fastest way is to record an audio product. Then, transcript it and you’ll have the ebook version product immediately.

If you can’t create an audio product by yourself, interview an expert in your niche market. I’m sure many people would want to learn from him.

How can you convince him to be interviewed?

Do a tele-conference call to promote his product as an affiliate to your mailing list and record it. He won’t be able to resist that.

Software and video info-products are slightly more complex to create. The reason why these 2 info-products are being created by marketers very often lately is because of the high-perceived value that they can sell it for.

“Is there a market for my product?”

And can you reach them?

An important question indeed, because incidentally, if there’s no market for your product, or you have no way to reach them, then no ones going to find out about your product, and you simply won’t sell any.

It’s easy enough to head over to google.com and do a search for your product, or a different version of it.

Also, when running your search, if there are other products out there offering either the same as you, but in a different way, you can bet your life that there’s a market out there. Specifics and how’s aren’t really important right now, as long as you know not to go launching a product that’s going to be impossible for you to reach the people that want to buy it, or even worse; there aren’t any people who want to buy it.
